At Hymness, our leather products are about much more than just aesthetics – they must also be able to withstand everyday use. Therefore becomes all our leather batches exposed to one flexion test , which measures the leather's ability to cope with repeated bending and movement. This test is particularly important for products such as bags, shoes and furniture, where the leather is constantly in motion and exposed to wear and tear.
What is a flexion test?
Flexion of leather refers to a test in which the leather is repeatedly bent and stretched to simulate the conditions it encounters in daily use. Products such as shoes and bags that are subject to frequent movement require leather that is both strong and elastic. The flexion test gives us precise data on the leather durability, elasticity and ability to maintain its structure over time – without developing cracks or permanent deformation.
How is the flexion test performed?
During the test, the leather is subjected to a certain number of repeated bends in a specially designed machine. This measures how well the material can withstand repeated movement and pressure over time. At Hymness, all our leather batches are tested, and only the leather that passes our strict quality requirements goes on to production. This is a standard procedure at our tanneries, where we work closely together to ensure that our leather meets the highest standards of quality and durability.
Why is the flexion test important to you as a customer?
When you choose a product from Hymness, you can be sure that it is made from leather that has gone through thorough tests . The flexion test ensures that the leather can cope with daily use without being damaged, while at the same time retaining its appearance and shape. Our extensive testing processes mean that we have done a solid preparatory work to ensure that your Hymness products can last for many years to come.
Although the leather is designed to withstand wear and tear, we always recommend that you combine this with good leather care and appropriate use. This is an important factor in extending the life of the leather and ensuring that your products remain beautiful for many years. Care makes sense!
